Warehouse Guide (1.0 Drilling Thunder)
Warehouses are large, multi-floor industrial dungeons filled with hostile bots and valuable loot. They are the primary source of high-end items like the Spud Gun, advanced vehicle parts, Schematic Boxes, and rare clothing. In version 1.0 Drilling Thunder, warehouses have been expanded with additional floors, hidden rooms, fragile walls, rooftop encounters, and the Trash Bot boss fight. This guide covers everything you need to clear warehouses efficiently.
Warehouse Key Acquisition
Before you can enter a Warehouse, you need a Warehouse Key:
- Farmbot drops — Farmbots (the large tier-3 bots) drop Warehouse Keys when defeated. This is the most reliable source.
- Other bot drops — Haybots and Tapebots have a small chance to drop keys
- Ruins loot — Search containers in abandoned structures for keys
- Quest rewards — Some NPC quests reward Warehouse Keys
💡 Key Tip
Farmbots are the most reliable source of Warehouse Keys. You can find them near large warehouses and in certain open-world locations. A Spud Gun makes quick work of them — aim for the head.
Entry Requirements
- Warehouse Key — One key per entry (consumed on use)
- Weapons — At minimum a Sledgehammer; a Spud Gun is highly recommended. Bring a Spud Shotgun for close-quarters bot swarms.
- Food — Bring plenty of healing items; health does not regenerate in 1.0
- Armor — Optional but helpful; reduces bot damage
- Light — Some warehouse areas are dark; bring a flashlight or vehicle light
- Storage space — Warehouses contain a lot of loot; bring empty inventory slots
- Building materials — Bring a few blocks to bridge gaps or block doorways during the boss fight
1.0 Warehouse Structure
In version 1.0, warehouses have been considerably expanded. They feature multiple randomly generated floors, fragile walls that hide secret loot rooms, red explosive Totebots on upper floors, and rooftop boss arenas for high-level warehouses.
Floor Count
Warehouses can spawn with 2 to 5 floors, depending on size and type. Larger warehouses (4+ floors) feature Farmbots at the base and rooftop Trash Bot boss encounters. Smaller warehouses (2-3 floors) are safer but contain less valuable loot.
Fragile Walls (Hidden Rooms)
1.0 warehouses contain fragile walls that can be visually identified by cracks on their surface. These walls can be broken open to reveal hidden rooms containing valuable loot such as Component Kits, Circuit Boards, rare clothing, and occasionally Schematic Boxes. Always watch for cracked walls as you explore.
Typical Floor Layout
Ground Floor / Loading Dock
- Entry point with large metal doors
- Loading bays and storage containers
- Few bots, mostly Haybots and occasional Totebots
- Basic loot: scrap metal, wood, simple parts
- Stairs or elevator to upper floors
Middle Floors / Office & Storage
- Office rooms, cubicles, and storage areas
- More Tapebots (ranged attackers on elevated positions)
- Fragile walls leading to hidden loot rooms
- Better loot: component kits, circuit boards, occasional clothing
- Multiple exits and hidden passages
Top Floor / High-Value Storage
- Large open storage area with stacked crates
- Red Explosive Totebots — These bots fire explosives and are highly dangerous. Prioritize them from range.
- Dense bot populations, including Farmbots in large warehouses
- Best loot: Spud Guns, Schematic Boxes, rare parts, advanced clothing
- Roof access — leads to the Trash Bot boss arena in high-level warehouses
Enemy Distribution (1.0)
| Floor | Bot Types | Density | Danger |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ground | Haybots, occasional Totebots | Low-Medium | Low |
| Middle | Tapebots (many), Haybots, Totebots | Medium | Medium |
| Top | Haybots, Tapebots, Farmbots, Red Explosive Totebots | High | High |
| Roof (Boss) | Trash Bot (multi-phase boss) | Single boss | Very High |
⚠️ Red Explosive Totebot Warning
The Red Explosive Totebot is one of the most dangerous enemies in warehouses. It fires explosive projectiles that deal heavy area damage. Always engage these bots from range using a Spud Gun, and never let them get close. They are a priority target — take them out before dealing with other bots.
Trash Bot Boss Fight (Rooftop Arena)
High-level warehouses (4+ floors) feature a rooftop boss arena where you face the Trash Bot— the first true boss encounter in Scrap Mechanic survival mode. This giant industrial machine collects garbage, scrap metal, and dangerous industrial waste. Defeating it rewards story progression and rare loot.
Boss Overview
- Appearance — Enormous gray and yellow body, glowing red eye, powerful mechanical arms, massive trash container on its back
- Location — Rooftop of high-level warehouses (must survive multiple floors first)
- Phases — Multi-phase fight (3 phases), becomes more aggressive as health decreases
- Weak point — Glowing red eye (ranged), then exposed energy core (melee)
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Description | How to Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Junk Ball Roll | Launches a huge compressed trash projectile from its back funnel that rolls and curves toward players (community nickname: "Barf Ball") | Keep moving constantly; do not stay in one position. The projectile curves, so strafe unpredictably. |
| Side-Pipe Shrapnel Spray | Fires metal debris in a wide cone from its side exhaust pipes | Keep distance; avoid standing near the side pipes. This punishes melee-focused players. |
| Slime Wave | Creates a damaging area attack with toxic slime across the rooftop that also slows movement | Jump away from slime-covered zones. Getting trapped in slime before a Junk Ball launch is the fastest way to lose. |
How to Defeat the Trash Bot
The fight follows a specific pattern — brute force does not work. The Trash Bot's main body is heavily armored and immune to regular melee attacks.
- Phase 1 — Destroy the Red Eye: Use the Spud Gun to focus fire on the glowing red eye. This is the machine's primary weakness. Do not waste ammo on the armored body. A vehicle with a Turret Seat can make this phase much safer, especially in multiplayer.
- Phase 2 — Core Exposure: After taking enough eye damage, the Trash Bot becomes temporarily stunned. It lowers its head, revealing a glowing energy core inside the neck area. This is the only moment you can deal significant damage. The stun window is limited — do not hesitate.
- Phase 3 — Hammer the Core: Switch to your Sledgehammer and strike the exposed energy core. This forces you to use different mechanics — the Spud Gun creates the opening, but the hammer finishes the job. Repeat this cycle (eye → stun → core → hammer) several times until the Trash Bot is defeated.
Preparation Checklist
- Strong building materials — Tier 3 Metal and Concrete Blocks for temporary cover (can survive attacks that destroy basic structures)
- Powerful food items — Revival Burgers and other high-level food (the fight lasts several phases)
- Extra Spud Gun ammunition — The eye phase requires accuracy and enough shots to repeatedly stun the boss
- Mobile combat machine — A small vehicle with a Turret Seat makes the fight much easier, especially in multiplayer
- Jump boost food — Burgers grant jump boost, allowing you to jump over spinning attacks
- Run-and-heal items — Sunshake, flower tea, or milk (you can drink while running)
Multiplayer Strategy
In multiplayer, teamwork is especially powerful. One player can focus on driving a fast vehicle and avoiding attacks while another sits in a turret position and focuses on destroying the eye. Solo players should prioritize mobility — the Trash Bot is not fast, but every mistake creates a chain reaction (slime → Junk Ball → death).
Rare Loot Guide
| Item | Rarity | Location | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spud Gun | Rare | Top floor crates, hidden rooms | Essential weapon |
| Schematic Box | Very Rare | Top floor, behind fragile walls | Unlocks new recipes |
| Advanced Vehicle Parts | Uncommon | Middle and top floors | Better vehicles |
| Rare Clothing | Uncommon | All floors, clothing crates; top floor has best drops | Customization |
| Component Kits (bulk) | Common | All floors, hidden rooms | Crafting material |
| Circuit Boards (bulk) | Uncommon | Middle and top floors | Electronics crafting |
| Explosive Parts | Rare | Top floor, Red Totebot drops | Explosive ammo |
| Trash Bot Boss Loot | Very Rare | Rooftop boss reward | Story progression, rare materials |
Speedrun Route
For experienced players who want to clear warehouses quickly:
- Enter and rush — Run past ground floor bots, do not stop to fight
- Check fragile walls — Quickly scan for cracked walls on middle floors for bonus loot
- Take stairs to top floor — The best loot is on the top floor
- Prioritize Red Explosive Totebots — Shoot them from a distance before they get close
- Loot high-value crates — Focus on Schematic Boxes and Spud Guns first
- Roof boss (optional) — Only attempt the Trash Bot if you are well-prepared
- Exit via ground floor — Once looted, fight your way out or use a hidden exit
Estimated time: 5-10 minutes per warehouse (without boss) with a Spud Gun and good gear.
Warehouse Reset
Warehouses reset after you clear them — you must kill every enemy on the inside (you cannot miss even one Tapebot). You will know they have reset when you suddenly encounter new bots in previously cleared areas. This makes warehouses a repeatable source of loot.
Multiplayer Coordination
Warehouses are much easier with a team. Assign roles:
- Tank — Heavy armor, draws bot aggro, uses melee or shotgun
- Ranged DPS — Spud Gun, picks off Tapebots from distance, prioritizes Red Totebots and Trash Bot eye
- Support — Heals teammates, carries extra ammo and food, loots while others fight
- Scout — Runs ahead to find loot rooms and fragile walls, marks bot positions
Communication is key. Use voice chat or text to call out bot positions, especially Red Explosive Totebots. Stay together — splitting up in a warehouse is a good way to get overwhelmed.
Warehouse Combat Tips
- Use cover — Crates, walls, and office cubicles block Tapebot fire
- Listen for bots — Each bot type has distinct audio cues; learn them
- Do not fight in doorways — Bots can swarm you in narrow spaces; pull them into open areas
- Break fragile walls — Cracked walls lead to hidden loot rooms with Component Kits and rare items
- Check above you — Tapebots often position on elevated catwalks and shelves
- Use explosives carefully — Explosive ammo can destroy loot crates if you are not careful
- Loot as you go — Do not save all looting for the end; you might die and lose progress
- Know when to retreat — If health is low and bots are swarming, run to the roof or exit to heal
- Clear every bot — To trigger warehouse reset, you must kill every enemy, including hidden Tapebots
