Bots & Enemies Reference

Scrap Mechanic's world is populated by robots — some friendly and helpful, others hostile and dangerous. This reference covers every bot type, their stats, behaviors, drops, and the raid patterns you need to defend against.

Friendly Bots

These bots are non-hostile and provide useful functions:

Hostile Bot Stats

Early Access had only 5 hostile bot types. The 1.0 Drilling Thunder update more than doubled that number. Here are all hostile bots you'll encounter:

Bot Behavior Patterns

Haybot

  • The most common hostile bot on the surface
  • Can climb walls up to 3 blocks high — build walls at least 7 blocks high
  • Attacks in groups during raids
  • Weak to headshots from the Spud Gun
  • Slow turn rate — circle around them to avoid attacks

Tapebot

  • Ranged attacker that fires sticky tape projectiles
  • Tape slows your movement temporarily
  • Often found on elevated positions in ruins and Warehouses
  • Take cover behind walls or vehicles to avoid their fire
  • Low health — a few Spud Gun shots take them down

Red Explosive Totebot

  • Highest priority target — One explosion can destroy your vehicle or kill you
  • Runs toward the player and detonates on contact
  • Can be shot from a distance to detonate safely
  • Explosion damages nearby bots too — use them to your advantage
  • Never let them get close to your base or vehicle

Farmbot

  • Large, heavy bot that appears during high-value farm raids
  • Deals massive melee damage and can destroy walls
  • Slow but tanky — requires concentrated fire
  • Use explosive ammo or turrets to take them down quickly
  • Drops rare crafting materials

Raid Patterns

Raids are triggered when your total farm value exceeds 10. Understanding raid patterns helps you prepare:

  • Timing — Raids occur primarily at night when bot activity increases
  • Warning — You'll hear an alarm/siren before a raid starts
  • Escalation — Higher farm values = larger, more dangerous raids with tougher bots
  • Directions — Bots approach from multiple directions; don't only defend one side
  • Duration — Raids last until all attacking bots are destroyed
  • Post-raid — Collect drops from destroyed bots; repair any damage to walls

Drop Materials Guide

Each bot type drops specific materials. Use this to farm what you need:

1.0 Drilling Thunder New Bots

The Drilling Thunder update introduced several new bot types, primarily in the underground mine:

  • Seed Bot — Passive surface bot that drops all crop seed types. Great for early-game farming.
  • Underground Miner Bot — Hostile mine bot with a drill attack. Tough and deals heavy damage.
  • Underground Sentry — Stationary ranged bot that guards mine passages and treasure rooms.
  • Swarm Bots — Small, fast bots that attack in groups in the underground.
